DEBUT IN THE NFT SPACE AND THE METAVERSE

This second online season was launched with the british artist, animator and archivist creating work that centres Black Trans people, Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley’s interactive video ‘I can’t remember a time I didn’t need you’ (2020), followed by the non-binary model, artist and poet Kai-Isaiah Jamal NFT’s poetry ‘Brave New World’ (2021). Then, in support of Ukraine, the gallery featured Kim Booker’s series of new oil paintings in the metaverse Spatial.

In April 2020 (during the lockdown), ANNKA KULTYS GALLERY launched [The art happens here], an online platform dedicated to showcasing digital art in its ‘natural habitat’. This platform provides a natural extension to the gallery’s offline programme, championing the millennial artists and art engaged with technology.
